Rock legend Robert Plant has revealed he turned down a role in TV fantasy epic, Game of Thrones.
The Led Zeppelin frontman reckons he was offered the part because of the band’s focus on war and the past in classic songs such as Achilles Last Stand, Immigrant Song and The Battle of Evermore.
Plant, 73, revealed the job offer in a radio interview.
He said: “The Viking thing. Yeah, I’ve got a lot to answer for. I love Western European history from maybe the Bronze Age up through all the old religion… when we were really in touch with our earth.

“Go back to Immigrant Song and Led Zeppelin being part of a cultural exchange in Iceland with the Icelandic government. They didn’t know what they’d invited on to their little island.”
Led Zeppelin, whose other hits include Whole Lotta Love, is one of the world’s best-selling bands ever.
Musician Ed Sheeran got mixed reviews when he appeared in the opening episode of series seven of Game of Thrones.
Ed said: “It was fun, but I think they should have killed me off. That probably would have been redemption for people that didn’t like it.”
