Simon Cowell has been seen for the first time since an accident on his electric bike left him with a back broken in three places.
The music mogul appeared on the Instagram Stories of close pal and ex Terri Seymour as they marked his 61st birthday with a cake for the special day.
In a video filmed by Terri, who dated Simon between 2002 and 2008, her daughter Coco and Simon’s son Eric, both five, are beside themselves with excitement as they sing Happy Birthday.
Simon chuckled warmly and smiles at the camera as he sits as a table with partner, and Eric’s mum, Lauren Silverman.
The star looked in good spirits following his accident in August, which saw him dashed to hospital for an emergency procedure.
And thought Simon is on the mend, fans have been left downcast amid reports he won’t make it back to the UK for the BGT Christmas special.
Close pal and fellow judge Amanda Holden recently provided a vital update to fans on Simon’s condition, assuring them during a Loose Women appearance that he’s receiving 24/7 care and attention.
“He’s doing really well,” Amanda told the Loose Women panel.
“I keep in touch with [Simon’s girlfriend] Lauren every week, and it was his birthday yesterday, he turned 61.
“She said his will and his determination is brilliant and they’ve got round-the-clock care.
“He’ll be back I have no doubt.”
But despite her optimism, Amanda’s missing her friend.
And a close friend of Simon’s recently shared with the Mirror : “Simon was advised not to fly back to the final by doctors.
“He is walking a lot and swimming and feeling great – but focusing on being on top form for 2021.”
BGT drew to a close over the weekend, with Diversity star and BGT alum Ashley Banjo stepping up in Simon’s absence.
And despite proving a fan favourite, Ashley was caught in an Ofcom storm after the broadcast regulator was flooded with over 24,000 complaints for a performance.
Ashley and his Diversity mates took to the stage with a Black Lives Matter-themed dance, which seemed to wrangle some viewers.
Diversity have stood by the performance, as have ITV, despite serious pressure.
And Ofcom ruled not to investigate the performance on the grounds that it hadn’t violated any broadcast rules.
“Creativity is always a leap of faith,” Ashley wrote on Instagram.
