Rebekah Vardy in tears in first interview after Wagatha Christie trial

Rebekah Vardy has revealed how she was branded a “rat” by cruel trolls after her libel battle with former pal Coleen Rooney.

The WAG, 40, even claimed some vile people had tried to link her to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann after Judge Justice Steyn ruled in favour of Coleen, 40, last week.

The mum-of-five has opened up on the barrage of vicious abuse she’s received recently, claiming to get up to 100 threatening messages every day.

The abuse has led to her having to increase her security and she said the saga had left her feeling sick.

Rebekah, who is married to Leicester City footballer Jamie Vardy, has continued to maintain her innocence despite last week’s ruling in which the judge described her evidence as “manifestly inconsistent”.

And speaking to The Sun, she’s revealed the whole scenario “has been awful”.

She said: “At its worst, I was worried to be on my own, to leave the house. I was scared to be out in public places.”

She described how even small situations like going shopping were horrendous and added: “Everyone always says: ‘These people wouldn’t say things to your face,’ but actually you do get the odd few that go that extra mile.”

She continued: “The abuse I was getting was insane. At the beginning it would be 100 messages a day. I even got letters sent to my home, and some crazy s*** sent over including letters from psychics.”

After claiming people had suggested she was a member of IS, she said: “It was as if I’d murdered someone. Every time something happened it was my fault, every time something new broke, it was my fault.”

Despite the abuse and allegations, Rebekah is adamant she would go through the case again as she knows she is innocent.

Following the outcome of the trial, she made a return to social media with a defiant message.

The former Dancing On Ice star said she was “extremely sad and disappointed” by the verdict and in an image on Instagram she can be seen dressed in a pair of blue denim shorts, a pair of black boots with grey socks poking out the top and a black leather jacket.

The edgy jacket showcased the words “normal is boring” in spray painted pink and white graffiti-style text on the back.

Meanwhile, she could be seen throwing the peace sign up to the camera as she faced away from it.
