Keith Lemon and Melanie Sykes has become the showbiz feud no-one expected as the comedian hit back at remarks made by the TV presenter.

Keith, who is a comic character played by Leigh Francis, has responded to remarks made by Mel at the weekend and he hasn’t looked to patch it up but instead poured fuel on the fire.

It began when 50-year-old Mel accused Keith of having a “limited vocabulary” in an interview over the weekend.

Now 47-year-old Keith has hit back saying that despite this ‘deficiency’, it hasn’t stopped him scooping “two Baftas and two NTAs.”

The comment was a barbed attack on Mel who hasn’t won any of those awards.

The Celebrity Juice host revealed that he privately messaged Mel after reading the comments she made about him.

It would seem though that the olive branch was snapped in half by Mel and, so, Keith has gone on the offensive by hitting out at her on social media.

Keith told his followers: “I reached out to her and asked why she didn’t like me. She said, ‘It’s not you, it’s your on-screen persona’.

“Well if anyone’s watching and you have a limited voc- abulary, you can still win two Baftas and two NTAs.

“I don’t want to boast about all the things I’ve won.”

Leigh has been particularly successful as Keith Lemon with him winning the Entertainment Performance award for Celebrity Juice at the 2016 TV Baftas.

He also bagged a couple of National Television Awards in 2012 and 2015.

In the interview that sparked the feud, Mel said: “Sadly, in all realms of life, most men are pretty basic and disappointing.

“I feel a bit sorry for British men who have adopted the limited vocabulary of the television character Keith Lemon when talking about and to women.”

Mel added: “I would be surprised, and indeed it would be a miracle, if any of these men are actually getting laid.”

Keith has tried to make light of the jibe by suggesting that spending time with Mel will be a Bushtucker Trial in the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! which will be filmed in North Wales.

During an Instagram Live, Keith said: “You might be stuck in a dungeon with Mel Sykes, who says you’ve got a limited vocab- ulary and you’ve got to convince her that you know loads of words.”
