Crews from both the Los Angeles and Beverley Hills fire departments have responded to reports of a fire at Denzel Washington’s house.

CBSLA reported that smoke was visible from the second storey of Denzel’s home, which resides in the exclusive celebrity neighbourhood of Beverley Crest, but flames could not be seen by air.

It is unclear whether the 65-year-old actor was in the 28,887-square-foot property at the time, but the LAFD revealed that all parties were safely evacuated.

After attending the scene and conducting a search using thermal imaging cameras, the department reported that they did not find any active flames.

“The investigation is largely focused on one of several furnaces in the home that may have been recently serviced,” an official with the department said on Wednesday.

Denzel’s representative told USA today in a statement: “There is no fire and everyone is OK and safe.”

It comes weeks after Denzel’s son John David Washington, 36, revealed that he moved back in with his actor dad and mum Paulette, 70, during the coronavirus pandemic.

Chatting to Samuel L. Jackson – as he stood in for Jimmy Kimmel on his US chat show – John David joked that he was back in his ‘old room’ during lockdown.

He told how his famous father ‘likes some order in the house’ and he was being forced to do a number of chores.

“I can’t believe we’re doing this right now. There was a chore or two. My chore was to make sure I’m down for dinner in time,” joked the star.

John David followed his famous father into acting and starred in the movie Tenet this year, alongside Robert Pattison and Kenneth Branagh.
