The Transformers series has been around for decades. From animated shows to blockbuster action movies, this franchise is known worldwide and carries with it a lot of fanfare.
In terms of video games, there have been many Transformer titles as well. The list includes Transformers: The Game, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, and Transformers Universe. All of these games feature robot fighting action in some capacity.
Now, fans of the series have their sights set on Transformers: Battlegrounds. It’s a tactical strategy game featuring turn-based combat. If you like Transformers and thinking two moves ahead of opponents, then this is just the game for you.
It’s currently scheduled to release October 23, 2020, which is a couple of weeks away. Fortunately, fans don’t have to wait to see how the tactical combat will unfold between the Autobots and Decepticons. There is new gameplay footage out now in fact that highlights some of the basic mechanics and graphics.
The turn-based tactics look to be in full effect. Rather than just swinging away with your selected Autobot, you’ll have to time your attacks just right and plan out the combat on a grand scale. Think of it as the ultimate game of chess between two heated rivals, in a war that Earth’s fate is predicated on.
The attacks are quite varied from bot to bot, which should give players plenty to play around with as they figure out a way to best the opposition. The battles take place on a variety of stages, ranging from Central City to Cybertron. That’s great news if you want to experience new storylines and lore that wasn’t previously revealed in the games, movies, and television series.
There are a number of old and new characters you’ll be able to play with on the Autobot side, including Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. Throughout your progression, you’ll get to choose and customize their abilities depending on what type of tactics you plan on implementing.
All in all, Transformers: Battlegrounds looks like a pretty competent strategy game that will probably be full of surprises and Easter eggs. The turn-based strategy looks very promising already. There are plenty of attacks to implement and challenging Decepticons to put a stop to.
If you fancy yourself a Transformers fan, then this latest offering looks like it will provide a lot of exciting stories and battles. Just a couple of more weeks before the full game will be playable.
