Simon Cowell has ‘reassured himself he’s not paralysed’ after breaking back

Simon Cowell was rushed to hospital after suffering severe injuries after was thrown from his electric bike while taking it out for its first spin in Malibu

Music mogul Simon Cowell is recovering well following his horror biking accident last month.

The X Factor creator, 60, is back on his feet and has “reassured himself that he’s not paralysed” after breaking his back in the motor crash.

Simon was rushed to hospital after suffering severe injuries after he was thrown from his electric bike while taking it out for its first spin in Malibu.

Six weeks later, the telly star is finally on the mend and has ‘taken some steps’ according to his former girlfriend, Sinita – which has led to the music mogul feeling more positive about his mobility.

Lifting the lid on Simon’s recovery, the 51-year-old singer told Entertainment Daily that he is finally able to walk again – albeit very slowly.

“It was a serious accident. So, for people who love him, like me, it was very, very scary.

“He’s taken some steps, so he has reassured himself that he’s not paralysed.”

Although he’s finally on the path to recovery, Sinitta insisted that her dear friend will need to take things slowly, and not rush into any work.

“But he’s got to take his time and get well.” she explained.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge will be forced to miss the iconic Christmas special this year due to his injuries.

Although he’s on the road to recovery, it now seems as though he may not be well enough to make his UK telly return.

Diversity star and BGT alum Ashley Banjo stepped up to fill Simon’s spot on the judging panel alongside Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams.

A source told The Sun : “Simon hoped he’d be well enough to fly from Los Angeles to the UK for the special show but he’s had to pull out.”

The insider added that coronavirus has made considerations even more complicated.

“Plus, the new lockdown measures,” they continued, “and him having to fly two weeks before the show so he could quarantine in advance — made it even more difficult for him to make the journey.”

Following his accident, Simon’s long term girlfriend Lauren Steadman has warned him that he must give up his thrill-seeking hobbies.

Lauren doesn’t want him to ride one of those bikes again, so he’s agreed with his friends and family to get rid of them as soon as he’s out of hospital,” a source told The Sun.

The insider added: “The power of the bike was unbelievable when he changed the setting up to the second one. The bike just flew into the air.

“Thankfully he let go of the bike as he fell backwards and it didn’t land on him.”

Simon since revealed that he didn’t read the manual for his new electric bike before suffering the horrific accident on his first ride.
