Phillip Schofield’s savage reply to How To Spend It Well critic

The How To Spend It Well host shared a sassy reply to an unimpressed viewer who had some questions about how the money show is filmed

Philip Schofield has clapped back at an unimpressed How To Spend It Well viewer.

The series, which follows the 58-year-old TV host and a team of experts put a range of festive gifts to the test, returned for a three-part series last week.

The Christmas-themed show aims to give viewers a fun and informative guide to what’s on offer by rating and reviewing the very latest products competing for a place under the tree, from toys to gifts and gadgets, food and drink.

As with many other ITV shows this year, viewers were unsure whether Phillip would make a return to the programme due to the ongoing pandemic.

Thankfully, ITV bosses found a way to film by forming bubbles with the presenter, guests, and the crew members.

However, How To Spend It Well viewers were left rather confused about when the show was actually filmed due after claiming certain scenes flouted social distancing rules.

Taking to Twitter after watching the first instalment of the brand-new series, the viewer suggested that Phillip had ‘clearly’ filmed the show before the pandemic happened.

The critic went on to point out that the gifts wouldn’t be ‘up to date’ for Christmas 2020 if it was filmed months ago.

“When was ITV’s How To Spend It Well with Phillip Schofield even filmed? Clearly before COVID… so how up to date is all of this for Christmas 2020?”

After reading the tweet, Phillip rushed to reassure the viewer that the show had in fact been filmed in recent months.

The sassy star replied: “Not ‘clearly’…it was filmed in October but we were all tested and so could form a bubble. I can assure you the prices are as up to date as possible.”

Speaking about the new series recently, Phillip said: “After a tough year, it’s more important than ever to know how to make your money work for you.

“We’ve tested and reviewed the latest products to help us get the biggest bang for our buck this season… Let’s make this a Christmas to remember.”

The next episode will air on Tuesday, 1 December at 8PM on ITV.
