Zac Efron is set gearing up to star in Disney Plus’ remake of the iconic 1987 film Three Men and a Baby.
The actor, 32, has reportedly bagged himself a lead role in the forthcoming film, as his name is the first one to be linked to the highly-anticipated remake, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The original film – which boasts an impressive 75% on Rotten Tomatoes – might be a tough act to follow as it stars favourites Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson.
The hit film tells the story of three single men who suddenly find themselves having to raise a baby.
The remake – which has already generated a lot of buzz among fans – is set to be produced by Gordon Gray, whose work includes Secretariat, The Rookie and The Way Back, to name a few.
The script has already been written by Will Reichel. Will wrote the script for 2019 film Hot Air, starring Taylor Russell and Steve Coogan.
Disney bosses are now faced with the task of finding a fitting director for the remake.
This will be the first time Zac will work with Disney since his big break gig High School Musical, which essentially launched his acting career.
And it seems as though the heartthrob is shifting his focus from Hollywood to streaming services after his recent gig with Netflix proved to be a hit.
Zac took his passion for sustainability on the road as he teamed up with wellness expert Darin Olien to “investigate the ways people are taking action toward a sustainable future.”
Down to Earth with Zac Efron sees him explore how we can make a difference to the planet.
Zac and Darin hit up France, Puerto Rico, London, Iceland, Costa Rica, Peru and Sardinia during their travels.
Mirror Online has contacted Zac’s reps for comment.
