Rebekah Vardy arrives for second day of ‘Wagatha’ dispute

The Wagatha Christie trial has finally concluded with Rebekah Vardy losing her multimillion-pound libel case to Coleen Rooney

In court, Rooney’s lawyers pointed out Vardy had a history of leaking stories and had been working with her agent, Caroline Watt, to place gossip in the newspaper.

Vardy had denied both claims but the judge today (July 29) dismissed her claim of libel, finding for her rival Coleen.

As part of the explosive trial, Vardy was questioned about text messages between her and Ms Watt in relation to a mysterious celebrity love triangle.

So what were the messages about, and who are the celebrities involved? Here’s everything we know as the explosive trial finally wraps.

Who are Mrs F, Mr H and Mr G?

The text messages brought up in court on May 11 2022 referred to a Mrs F, a Mr H and a Mr G.

All three were allegedly involved in a celebrity love triangle and Coleen’s lawyer claimed Vardy tried to leak this to the press.

The celebrities involved in the love triangle were given pseudonyms to protect their anonymity, but some details of their identities were revealed in court.

It was confirmed that “Mrs F” is a well-known celebrity, that “Mr H” is her estranged husband and that “Mr G” is a well-known footballer.

Vardy was also asked in court whether she was friends with Mr G.

She responded, “No that’s not true” and talked about how there was a difference between being friends with someone on social media and having a real friendship.

When questioned further about a friendship with Mr G, she said: “If I answer the question it’s going to be obvious who it is.”

What happened in the celebrity love triangle?

The messages that Vardy sent alleged that a well-known celebrity was cheating on her husband with a famous footballer.

But when accusing her of trying to leak the story in court, Coleen’s lawyer David Sherborne also said that there were two sides to every story.

He said that the well-known celebrity’s husband had cheated on her as well early on in their relationship.

Mr Sherborne told the court about a conversation that happened between Vardy and her agent Caroline Watt.

One message to Watt talking about the well-known celebrity said: “Oh my god have you seen how badly Mrs F is behaving I’m actually disgusted with her.”

And another said: “Leak the story about her shagging [G] behind [H’s] back.”

The court then heard that Ms Watt replied to Vardy, saying: “I tried before but The Sun already knew about it and couldn’t prove it as usual.”

But Vardy denies that the messages prove she had tried to leak the story, claiming she was “just joking” in the messages.

She told the court: “I used the word leak where I probably shouldn’t… I was just joking when I said this comment.”

Vardy claimed rumours about this story had already been circulating and the court also heard that pictures of Mrs F dancing on a beach abroad had already been published.

Throughout the trial, Vardy, 40, always vehemently denied Coleen’s accusations of leaking false stories and launched libel proceedings in 2020 after Coleen’s so-called Wagatha Christie sting.

Vardy later admitted in a witness statement her agent Caroline Watt could have leaked the stories in a dramatic U-turn.
