Iconic singer Kate Bush has been making somewhat of a comeback as her music has shot back up in the charts – all thanks to Netflix’s Stranger Things and TikTok.

Bush first rose to fame in the 70s with her debut single Wuthering Heights. The then 19-year-old became the first female artist to achieve a UK number one with a self-written song.

Throughout the 1980s she went on to become one of the most celebrated singer-songwriters of all time.

But now her music has been getting popular with the younger generation after her hit song Running Up That Hill was used in the latest season of Stranger Things.

The song then went viral on TikTok and now over 2.7million videos on the platform use the hit 1985 track.

As her music tops the charts again, here’s everything we know about Kate Bush‘s notoriously private family life and what happened to her after her fame.

Kate Bush’s last life performance was in 2014.

The singer returned to the stage for the first time in 35 years to perform 22 concerts at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, tickets for the shows sold out in just 15 minutes.

Bush’s latest album 50 Word for Snow, was released over a decade ago in 2011.

The 63-year-old might not have released new music, but her old hits have made a huge comeback and Running Up That Hill climbed up to number one on the UK’s Official Singles Chart in June.

Bush has remained out of the spotlight in recent years, and rarely does interviews.

However, she made a rare media appearance last month to reflect on the revival of Running Up That Hill following the release of Stranger Things season four.

Speaking to BBC Women’s Hour, she said: “Well it’s just extraordinary. I mean, you know, it’s such a great series, I thought that the track would get some attention.

“But I just never imagined that it would be anything like this. It’s so exciting. But it’s quite shocking really, isn’t it? I mean, the whole world’s gone mad.”

In 1992 Kate Bush married fellow musician Danny McIntosh, and the pair are still together 30 years later.

Danny is a guitarist who played for bands including Bandit and The Quick.

He also played guitar on albums by Amii Steward, Dollar and Deniece Williams during the 1980s and has his own album titled Dave.

Danny has appeared on several of Bush’s songs.

In 1993 he played guitar for her songs Rubberband Girl, Constellation Of The Heart, Top Of The City, The Red Shoes, Lily and The Song Of Solomon.

Currently, Danny runs a record label called Independent.

Kate and Danny live together in a mansion on the coast of Devon that they purchased in 2005.

Kate Bush has one child called Albert McIntosh.

Albert, who is known as Bertie, was born in 1998.

Bertie’s existence was kept a secret for five years after his birth, until it was accidentally revealed by fellow singer Peter Gabriel during an interview.

Kate kept her son’s life private, but as he got older Bertie stepped out of the shadows and it seems that he’s looking to follow in the footsteps of his musical parents.

In 2014, 16-year-old Bertie joined Kate on stage at the Hammersmith Apollo as a backing singer.

Bush credited her son for encouraging her to go ahead with the series of concerts, which were her first live performances in 35 years.

On stage, she said: “He gave me the courage to push the button,

“Thank you, Bertie. It’s been a fantastic adventure so far. And it’s only just begun.”

Bertie also replaced Rolf Harris on vocals of several tracks of Kate Bush’s re-released album Aerial in 2018.
