Over the years some of the biggest names in showbiz have dared to bare during live performances on some of the UK’s most watched talent shows.
The likes of Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce and Rihanna have all tried to steal away attention from the contestants by flashing the flesh as they strut their stuff.
But while many viewers marvel at their risqué outfit choices, others choose to hit up Ofcom with complaints about being offended over the lack of clothing being worn.
From JLo’s raunchy crotch-flash to Holly Willoughby’s plunging show gowns, fans have seen it all.
Here’s a look back at the most complained about outfits ever to have graced TV screens.
JLo’s infamous crotch-flash
Jennifer Lopez caused outrage among Britain’s Got Talent viewers in 2013.
The talented songstress, 51, received more than 100 Ofcom complaints in just 24 hours over her live performance of Live It Up where she hit the stage in a black leather leotard, thigh-high boots and racy fishnet tights.
In one jaw-dropping moment, Jennifer even thrust herself directly into the camera lens while furiously gyrating as she did well to avoid a wardrobe malfunction.
At the time, she defended her outfit choice, telling BBC Radio One’s Scott Mills: “I wore the same outfit on the Billboard Awards in red and it didn’t seem to cause any controversy there, so I felt pretty safe.”
Not one to avoid controversy, JLo also shocked the world earlier this year during her Superbowl performance with Shakira.
The two women racked up a total of 1,312 complaints to the Federal Communications Commission after the February performance, according to WFAA.
Amanda Holden’s plunging BGT gown
Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda took the top spot for the most complained incident on TV in 2017.
She received a staggering 663 complaints to Ofcom over a raunchy cleavage-baring £11,250 Julien Macdonald gown that was slashed to the navel.
The actress has since laughed off the complaints as “hysterical”, despite it being the third most complained about moment on British TV ever.
Viewers claimed to be offended by the plunging neckline that little to the imagination on the family-friendly show.
But the remorse-free star just laughed: “That dress was hysterical – it was Julien Macdonald.
“I had bits of fish wire underneath my breasts trying to hold that together. But, look, I’m from a small-chest family, plus you know I’m 48 years old. It’s all quite laughable, but it’s all everyone seems to talk about.”
Holly Willoughby’s daring dress
This Morning’s Holly Willoughby received mixed views when she wore a plunging low-cut dress while hosting Dancing On Ice with Phillip Schofield.
She may have looked stunning in the nude jewelled gown, but Holly was hit with several Ofcom complaints after causing offence by wearing it on the family show back in March.
Taking to her Instagram, some fans slammed the star’s outfit choice.
One wrote: “Cover up a bit more!!”
A second added: “She is stunning and her hair is actually nice tonight but i agree its a bit much for 6pm family show. No need to show a plunging neckline like that.”
Nicole Scherzinger’s sheer bodysuit
The ex-Pussycat Dolls lead singer is known for her fierce dance moves and sexy outfits.
It was no different when Nicole risked flashing everything in a sheer bodysuit while performing with the rest of her band mates during the 2019 X Factor final.
She received 400 Ofcom complaints, with some viewers demanding the band to “put some clothes on”.
But it’s not the first time the girl group have caused conflict with their racy outfits on the telly.
In March this year, they reunited for a performance on the One Show.
Their dance received 119 complaints from distracted viewers who were unhappy with the girls’ outfit choices.
The backlash prompted BBC bosses to release a statement admitting they had worked with the group to ensure the performance was “suitable for evening audiences”.
Christina Aguilera and Rihanna’s red hot outfits
Pop stars Christina Aguilera and Rihanna caused double trouble on the 2010 X Factor final.
The duo were hit by almost 3,000 Ofcom complaints over their raunchy outfits and routines.
Ofcom said it had received 2,750 complaints in total, while 1,500 were sent directly to ITV.
Rihanna performed What’s My Name, while Christina sang two songs from the film Burlesque.
They each performed between 7pm and 9pm on Simon Cowell’s show with an estimated14million viewers.
But viewers had no choice but to complain after saying the performances were too “inappropriate” for a pre-watershed show.
However X Factor producers defended the stars, saying to Daily Mail: “We are confident that the performances given by our guest artists on Saturday were appropriate for the show.”
