The Wanted star Tom Parker and wife Kelsey have revealed why they named their newborn son Bodhi who they welcomed last month

Singer Tom Parker and wife Kelsey have revealed why they named their newborn son Bodhi.

In the couple’s new interview with OK! magazine, the pair have reflected on welcoming their new child last month amid Tom’s battle against cancer.

Earlier this year, The Wanted star Tom, 32, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour while Kelsey was still pregnant with their boy.

Now, Kelsey has explained the unique choice of name when asked by the publication – and it is inspired by a character played by Hollywood legend Patrick Swayze.

She revealed: “The film Point Break! We were watching it and my little brother, Bobby, was like, ‘Kels, I love the name Bodhi.’

“And we were like, ‘We’re not sure.’ And we actually had the name when I was pregnant with Aurelia, if she was a boy. “

The mum-of-two continued: “And then when we knew we were having a little boy, it was Bodhi the whole way. ‘Bodhi’ means enlightenment, so it just goes perfectly with our situation right now.

“He’s the light at the end of our tunnel. Tom didn’t want the name. I said, ‘Tom, I don’t care what you say – we’re having Bodhi and that’s it.'”

Tom himself went on to add that Bodhi’s middle names are ‘Thomas’ and ‘Paris’.

Kelsey added: “Tom always wanted Paris. I just think I’m a bit too South London to have a little boy called Paris.”

The pair opted for tradition by making sure that Tom’s own name was in Bodhi’s full name too.

Tom himself is currently receiving radiotherapy and chemotherapy to make sure he gets as much time with his family – including his eldest child Aurelia -as possible.

Revealing his tragic news of his brain tumour diagnosis on Instagram, Tom had captioned an image of him with Kelsey and Aurelia: “Hey guys, you know that we’ve both been quiet on social media for a few weeks and it’s time to tell you why.

“There’s no easy way to say this but I’ve sadly been diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and I’m already undergoing treatment.

“We decided, after a lot of thought, that rather than hiding away and trying to keep it a secret, we would do one interview where we could lay out all the details and let everyone know the facts in our own way.”

He added: “We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way.

“We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options.

“It’s gonna be a tough battle but with everyone’s love and support we are going to beat this. Tom and Kelsey xxx.”
