Tiger Woods’ son, Charlie, will make his PGA Tour event debut at age 11 next month.

Father and son are paired in the PNC Championship, to be played Dec. 19-20 in central Florida at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club. “I can’t tell you how excited I am to be playing with Charlie in our first official tournament together,” Woods said in a statement Thursday. “It’s been great watching him progress as a junior golfer, and it will be incredible playing as a team together in the PNC Championship.”

NBC televises the event, which was the brainchild of Woods’ former neighbor, IMG executive Alastair Johnston. Johnston first asked Woods to enter the field in 1996 when he turned pro, but playing with his father, Earl. Twenty three years later, Woods is in with his own son.

Among the 20-person field of major tournament winners are Justin Thomas and his father, golf pro Mike Thomas, and Greg Norman.

No fans are allowed at the event. Woods had previously said he was ending his year at The Masters due to the cancellation of his Dec. 3-6 Hero World Championship in the Bahamas. Woods is the host of the annual all-star event. –Field Level Media ()
