Michelle Dewberry has revealed that her premature baby son still faces “challenges” in an emotional update about her newborn.

The 40-year-old former star of The Apprentice gave birth to her son at just 31 weeks and he has had “lots of complications.”

She has promised to “fight for him” as he battles in hospital after revealing on Instagram that she would have been 34 weeks pregnant at this point.

The new mum shared: “So today, I am not being wheeled down to theatre, I am instead sitting by my son’s hospital bed and absolutely in love – he has my heart.”

Michelle continued: “He will sadly have a couple of challenges in the short term, but he has the most determined and strong willed Mummy.

“I will fight for him with every inch of my being. (His Daddy’s not too bad either!)

“I feel blessed to be this little guys mum. We have so many exciting adventures ahead, I simply can’t wait.”

MIchelle shared with her followers a sweet snap of her baby son in a rainbow-coloured blanket as he cuddles into her, when she announced his arrival in a Hull hospital earlier in July.

Since then she has added a picture that shows her baby in a cot in the neo-natal unit.

Michelle wrote at the time: “So happy to share that I’m now a mummy!

“After a month in hospital & lots of complications, my little man came into this world way too early (31 weeks) but takes after his mamma & is a fighter.

“I’m in love.”

Michelle confirmed that the father is 52-year-old Simon Jordan, who used to own Crystal Palace Football Club.

She continued on Instagram: “Our next chapter, that of #NICU is now upon us. We take it day by day.”

Michelle felt he waters break when she was just 28 weeks and has been in hospital ever since.

This is the second time that she has had difficult times with pregnancy after she suffered a tragic miscarriage at three months in 2006, that left her feeling “devastated”and “lonely”.

She came to national prominence when Lord Sugar chose her to be his business partner to win the second series of BBC’s The Apprentice.
