Taylor Swift’s Team Addresses The Claims That She Stole The Folklore Merch Logo From A Black Woman’s Company!

After the release of her highly successful new album, Folklore, Taylor Swift was actually involved in some controversy and now, her team is responding! As you might have heard, the superstar was accused of stealing the album’s merch logo from a Black designer, which is especially bad amid the BLM movement.

Earlier today, a statement was issued on Good Morning America, in response to fellow artist Amira Rasool’s claims that the logo had been plagiarized.

‘Yesterday, we were made aware of the complaint that the use of the word ‘the’ before ‘folklore album’ on some of album merchandise was of concern. Absolutely no merchandise that uses ‘the’ before the words ‘folklore album’ has been manufactured and sent out. In good faith, we honored the request and notified everyone who’d ordered merchandise with the word ‘the’ preceding ‘folklore album’ they will now receive their order with the design change,’ the statement shared by Taylor Swift’s team reads.

Not too long after, Rasool took to Twitter to thank Taylor Swift and her reps for solving this problem so promptly.

‘I commend Taylor‘s team for recognizing the damage that the merchandise caused my company @TheFolklore’s brand. I recognize she has been a strong advocate for women protecting all their creative rights, so it was good to see that her team is on the same page,’ the tweet reads.

It all started about a week ago when the owner of The Folklore, a brand that sells products from Africa as well as from the diaspora, accused Taylor Swift of using a logo that was really similar to hers.

She tweeted at the time: ‘Wait hold up. Taylor Swift, it’s one thing to use the name Folklore, but we’re out here stealing Black women’s logos too? I am sharing my story to bring light to the trend of large companies/celebrities copying the work of small minority-owned business owners. I am not going to let this blatant theft go unchecked.’
