Strictly Come Dancing has been thrown into jeopardy amid conflicting reports of a TV crew member testing positive for coronavirus.
The Sun have reported that a member of the behind-the-scenes crew has tested positive for the potentially deadly Covid-19 virus.
While the BBC have claimed the affected crew member has already completed work on the long-running dance show ahead of the upcoming season.
The BBC Spokesperson also told Mirror Online that the TV crew member: “had an official NHS test that’s come back negative.”
Despite the conflicting reports, it seems news of a potential Covid-positive test result has already left cast and crew of the BBC reality show shaken.
A source told The Sun: This crew member would have been in touch with dozens of other workers on set.
“They were hours away from starting filming for the pre-recorded professional group dances when they got a call to say that one of the crew members had tested positive when turning up for another job.
“Everything juddered to a halt while worried bosses worked out what to do.
“This is the worst-case scenario for Strictly, as they’ve gone to extreme lengths to make the show safe up to this point.”
It is claimed the member of crew would have spent one week working with lighting equipment at the set of Strictly at studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
A BBC spokesperson confirmed to the Mirror Online that five other crew members had been asked to isolate as a precaution and given coronavirus tests which came back negative.
Strictly bosses have been working hard to safeguard cast and crew on the hit series for the 2020 season amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The profession dancers of the show have all bee isolating together at a nearby hotel in the weeks ahead of filming.
It is expected they will isolate there for the duration of the show to minimise risk of contracting the Covid-19 virus.
While it is also expected the upcoming series with film without any live studio audience again to minimize risks.
The celebrities stars for the 2020 series were unveiled last week – with Comedian Bill Bailey, actress Caroline Quentin, BBC Radio 1 host Clara Amfo, YouTube star HRVY, politician Jacqui Smith and Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing among those taking part.
