Star Citizen is an in-depth space trading and combat simulator that is being developed by Cloud Imperium Games. It has been in development for quite some time, but it has shown so much potential.
If you fancy yourself a fan of space and all of the endless possibilities that come with exploring it, then Star Citizen seems like just the title for you. It has done tremendously well for itself through Crowdfunding. Fans have seen its potential and have continued to support it over the years.
If you haven’t had the chance to experience its shooting mechanics or multiplayer action, then you’re in luck. For the next two weeks, Star Citizen can be played for free. That should give you plenty of time to see what the developer has worked on thus far.
There are a lot of things that will be available during this free window, too. For example, there are a total of 16 ships available to fly with. Each spacecraft is uniquely designed and comes with particular specs that should give you a pretty good idea of the space exploration side of the game.
What’s also unique about these 16 ships is they’re being entered in a Ship Showdown contest. Only one can win based on community votes. You can see what fans have already raved about and get involved in the action.
Different modes are available during this free trial period, including the Hangar module, Arena Commander, and Star Marine. Each features a different type of gameplay that keeps Star Citizen fresh and worth revisiting time and time again.
The Hangar mode is basically where you can view ships you’ve purchased and customize to your liking. Think of it like a base to come hang out at when you’re not trading, fighting, or exploring the galaxy.
Arena Commander is a space combat simulator that lets players go toe to toe with AI or other players. It’s one of the most beloved aspects of Star Citizen and has only gotten better over the months. You can put your skills to the test and see if you’ve designed your ship appropriately for combat.
Star Marine mode is a ground combat simulator that also has shown a lot of promise. All in all, there is plenty to experience in Star Citizen. There’s still plenty of time to see what fans have raved about and so many epic adventures to go on.
