Recovering Simon Cowell will return to the spotlight in December, according to reports.

Simon, 61, was forced to step way from public life after a horror bike accident earlier this year.

He was thrown off an electric bike and broke his back in three places.

The horrific crash nearly paralysed him and his recovery has taken longer than he had hoped, but he is expected to make his first public appearance next month.

The X Factor judge will appear virtually at the Fayre of St James’s 2020 Christmas Concert on 1 December.

The annual event has moved online due to the pandemic but still hopes to raise as much money as possible for The Childhood Trust and The Felix Project.

James Bay, Emili Sandé and James Blunt are all set to perform.

And Simon will be joined by Jack Whitehall, Rupert Everertt and Stephen Fry for his first public engagement since his horrific accident.

The music mogul was due to return to Brits’ tellies earlier this year on the Britain’s Got Talent panel.

But he was forced to step down as head judge on the ITV show after the accident.

Simon was replaced by Ashley Banjo who won BGT in 2009 as part of dance troop Diversity, while he remained at his Malibu home to continue his recovery on doctors’ orders.

He is expected to take his place on the show when it returns in the New Year in what will be a big boost to TV bosses after a flat post-lockdown return with him.

“Simon was gutted at having to sit out the show this year,” a source told The Sun .

“But he’s been totally focused on getting better and will definitely be back on the panel.

“He’s come on in leaps and bounds recently, thanks to letting his body heal, a healthy diet and some California sun.
