Simon Cowell ditches veg diet for white meat while recovering from broken back

Simon Cowell has swapped his veggie food for meat and chocolate as he recovers from his e-bike crash.

Before he broke his back in three places, the X Factor boss lost four stone thanks to a plant-based diet.

But the 60-year-old is being treated to his old favourite turkey cottage pie, made by partner Lauren Silverman, and chocolate as comfort food in hospital.

A source said: “Lauren has been to the hospital to drop a few things off once each day. She has been making his favourite Italian bean soup and also Cottage Pie with turkey, which he loves.

“His diet is incredibly healthy but there’s nothing better than traditional English comfort foods and treats when you’re on the mend.

“Cowell is in hospital after falling off his new electric bike at his Malibu home last week. He narrowly avoided being paralysed as the impact was “a centimetre” from his spinal cord.

But despite the fractures, he is expected to be discharged this week and has already been working from his hospital bed.

Cowell, who has been chatting to son Eric, six, on FaceTime, has received thousands of letters, cards and messages of support from around the world.

The source added: “Simon has been up walking and moving around again faster than doctor’s had predicted, although his friends are reminding him it’s important to heal before rushing back to work.”

Cowell used to binge on hamburgers, sausage rolls and jam tarts before starting a vegetarian and dairy-free diet.
