America’s Got Talent has began filming again but Simon Cowell’s chair has been left empty as he recovers from surgery on his broken back.

His fellow judges, Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum, have both shared photos and videos from the Universal Studios stage as they pay tribute to missing Simon.

In a photo that they both shared on Instagram, they were joined by fellow judge Howie Mandel in pointing at Simon’s empty seat.

Sofia, 48, captioned the pic: “We miss our boss!! Come back fast @simoncowell!!” along with ambulance emojis.

Heidi wrote alongside her pic: “Wishing you a speedy recovery @simoncowell ❤️”

The 47-year-old supermodel expanded further about Simon’s absence in a video on her Instagram Story.

She told her followers: “Filming today for America’s Got Talent and I’m here next to Simon’s trailer.

“I just wanted to say I miss you Simon and get well soon.”

Heidi also shared a video of her on a tram with Sofia and Howie along with AGT host Terry Crews, as they took a socially distanced ride.

It is hoped that Simon to might participate in the live filming of the August 11 and 12 live show episodes but the decision could be in the hands of the doctors after he was urged not to rush back into work.

The 60-year-old AGT executive producer fell off an electric bicycle at his Malibu home, causing him to break his back ‘in several places’.

Simon had emergency surgery with a close friend telling the Mirror that he narrowly missed breaking his spinal cord “by a centimetre”, which would have paralysed him.

The shocking injury would have left him unable to walk again, but Simon will count himself lucky that he didn’t face that prospect.

On Saturday, Simon’s representative said in a statement: “Simon has broken his back and will be having surgery this evening.

“He hurt his back and was taken to the hospital. He’s doing fine, he’s under observation and is in the best possible hands.”

America’s Got Talent is in its 15th season and had seen filming delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
