Shane Richie has revealed that he once crept onto the EastEnders set and drew some ‘willy’ graffiti near Pauline Fowler’s bed.
The 56-year-old I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! star – who is known for playing the character Alfie Moon – has opened up about a wild night where he sneaked onto the set alongside Anthea Turner.
The cheeky episode actually took place almost a decade before Shane landed his iconic role on the BBC show.
At the time, Shane was starring in the musical Grease and had discovered that the show was taking place in the same location as EastEnders.
Speaking about the hilarious moment in his book Rags to Richie, Shane revealed that he crept onto the set with his pal Anthea Turner, ran around the different locations, and even jumped on Pauline and Arthur’s bed.
“I’d known Anthea for years and she was always up for a laugh,” Shane recalled.
“We cottoned on to the fact that this was where they filmed EastEnders and we found a little backway through to their studios.
“We were like kids in a sweetshop – here we were running through the actual EastEnders set.
Shane added: “We found the Fowlers’ house and ended up jumping up and down on Pauline and Arthur’s bed giggling like mad.
Although the security guards tried to chase them off of the set, Shane had already decided to leave his mark before making his exit.
The actor continued: “just before we left I had to leave my mark.
“I pulled a marker pen out of my back pocket and quickly drew a k*** on Pauline Fowler’s fridge.
“Childish I know, but it had to be done. Blame Anthea!” he said.
Years later, Shane was a little nervous when he was called back to the set as Alfie Moon.
In 2002, the actor took a tour of the set ahead of joining the show and was a little dismayed to learn that his graffiti had been removed.
However, at the time he did consider trying to put the cheeky image back.
Shane was one of 12 celebrities that braved the blustery Welsh weather in this year’s instalment of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
The actor made it to the semi-finals before eventually being booted off the show.
Since leaving the ITV series, Shane has also revealed he will be heading to the West End in January for his latest acting gig.
