Selena Gomez and Jennifer Aniston ‘s unlikely friendship happened as they bonded over their failed high-profile relationships.

The Lose You To Love Me singer, 28, and Friends actress, 51, became good friends after meeting through mutual management, according to Selena.

But they have one thing in common which fuelled their close bond – their former high-profile romances with pop sensation Justin Bieber and Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt.

It’s likely the pair grew close after having been in public relationships which didn’t end well, with Selena dating Justin Bieber on-and-off for years, and Jen being famously married to actor Brad Pitt for five years.

Selena told KTU’s Carolina Bermudez how they first met during a radio interview in 2015, around the time Selena had split with Justin.

She said: “We met through my management – they manage her as well – so it was kind of like a friendly meeting and instantly she’s, like, inviting me to her house.

“She has a pizza oven. Like, we’ve made pizzas at her house. She’s very cool and very sweet. She kind of gives me a lot of, like, maternal advice.”

Before they became good pals, Selena was not shy to speak about her admiration for the infamous actress.

She ran into Jen during the Women In Film Crystal and Lucy Awards in 2009, and could hardly keep it together.

Speaking about the moment to JustJared, Selena explained: “I was shaking! I ran into Jennifer in the bathroom and she goes, ‘Hi!’ My legs started to shake and I ran. I didn’t know what to do because I freaked out.”

A whole 11 years later, Selena re-told the story about their friendship during an interview with Jen, who co-hosted The Ellen DeGeneres show.

In January 2020, the Hollywood stars discussed how it all started.

Laughing, Selena told Jennifer: “Nobody knew who I was, and you were in the bathroom, wearing a black dress.”

She added: “I was there with my mom. And I walked into the bathroom and I saw you and you were so nice.

“You walked out to the bathroom and you were going out. My heart like stopped and I freaked out and I ran to my mom and I said, ‘I just saw Jennifer Aniston Oh My God!'”

While Jen, who is a huge fan of their cross-generational friendship, told the ex Wizards of Waverley Place star: “Selena, you’ve always been so sweet. You really are a genuine fan, and it’s amazing. We’ve known each other for years. You’ve been to my house, we’ve had pizza. We love a pizza.”

As Selena nodded in agreement: “Yes, we do!”

Jen has also said about the singer: “[Selena’s] just like a little cherub that I feel like I wanna take care of… She’s been extremely supportive and wonderful.”

The stars have most likely spoke about their love-life during their famous pizza nights.

They met around the time Selena was going through a public break-up with the Baby hit maker, and Jen was becoming civil with her ex-husband Brad.

Meanwhile, Selena is actually close pals with Jen’s most recent ex-husband Justin Theroux.

He gave her a shoutout when he returned to social media for the first time since his split with Jennifer two years ago.

Jennifer split with Justin in February 2018 after seven years of dating and two and a half years of marriage. They wed in August 2015.

The former couple met to make their final decision on Valentine’s Day.

We love Selena and Jen’s friendship!
