Ruth Langsford has opened up on how she would have liked to have had more kids.
The 60-year-old This Morning host – who is mother to son Jack with husband Eamonn Holmes – has shared on how she always thought she would have a bigger brood but that it is all about timing.
TV favourite Ruth says that when she met other half Eamonn – who also has three children from his first marriage – that she was quick to broach the subject of children and added that if he had said he did not want to have any more kids that she would have ended their romance after their second date.
She told Closer magazine : “I was 42 when I had Jack, and I always knew, way before I met Eamonn, in my grand plan of life, I wanted to have children, I didn’t meet Eamonn until I was 37.
“I would have liked to have had more children, but everything in life is about timing and my timing has always been later than sooner.”
And reflecting on one of their early dates where they discussed children, she added: When I met Eamonn, I obviously knew he had three children. I did [talk about children] really quickly. It was our second date, I didn’t just sit him down and say, ‘Hi it’s lovely to see you, I’ll have a wine please, now – children!’
“But I kind of engineered the conversation. If he had said, ‘No, I don’t want [any more] children,’ I’d have totally understood.”
She then added that she would have told him that they could not take their romance further if another baby was not on the cards.
In 2017 during a personal interview with the Daily Mail, Ruth revealed that when she first met Eamonn in 1997, not long after moving to London, they had to keep their new love a secret.
She said their relationship was ‘slow to start’ and very private, because Eamonn had recently split from his first wife, Gabrielle, and thought it would be insensitive to hold hands in public and parade their love at events.
But rather than be offended by being kept a secret, Ruth said it only made her love Eamonn even more.
