Radio presenter Roman Kemp has posted a heartbreaking tribute on Instagram to his late friend Joe Lyons.

The Capital Breakfast show host, 27, announced the death of his close friend and colleague Joe in an emotional speech on his show this morning.

Joe had passed away on Tuesday last week before Roman learned of his death on Wednesday and took a break from presenting duties for the rest of the week.

Roman returned to work today and decided to open up about the loss that he and his Capital colleagues have felt over losing Joe.

Now Roman has taken to Instagram to post a flurry of nostalgic photos of him with Joe, including holiday snaps and work hijinks caught on camera.

The popular radio DJ captioned the post with a lengthy tribute to his late friend.

Roman penned: “You will always be my brother, my best mate and my partner. Everyday I’m missing seeing you and just wish I could show you how many people know you’re the best.

“You taught me everything I know, I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for you sat by my side for the last 6 years. Pushing me and supporting me through everything.

“I can only hope I gave you the same love, loyalty and outrageous amounts of fun that you gave me.

“We have so many memories that span from sharing beds in the middle of nowhere to dancing on tables to breaking world records.”

Roman then made a heartbreaking apology to Joe for still messaging Joe and sending him memes, despite the producer no longer being with us.

The DJ wrote: “I’m sorry I haven’t stopped texting you and sending you memes.

“We were only just starting our adventure together but I’m going to take you along with me for the rest of it, flying that flag for the both of us.”

Roman concluded the post: “I love you more than I can ever explain. See you soon mate @producerjoe “.

Joe worked at Capital FM’s parent company Global for nine years prior to his death and has worked with Roman since 2016 across his shows with the radio station.

Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp continues on weekdays from 6am to 10am.
