Piers Morgan brands Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “deluded clowns” in his new book.
The outspoken GMB host, who’s made no secret of his scathing opinions about Megxit and the Sussexes’ new career moves, demands the pair give up their royal titles in an excerpt from Wake Up: Why The World Has Gone Nuts.
Piers announced that the book would be hitting shelves in October, and will grapple with woke culture and why he perceives it as a threat to free speech.
But he also shares his first reaction to learning that the Duke and Duchess would be “stepping down” as senior royals earlier this year.
He writes that he wasn’t convinced by a statement from the pair that claimed they would carve out a “progressive” role within the Royal Family, in a excerpt published in The Mail on Sunday.
Arguing that it was an excuse to escape “tedious” royal duties, Piers rages: “In other words, they want to be super-woke Royals (with all the ‘do as we say not as we do’ hectoring hypocrisy they’ve already brought to that status) who get to keep all the trappings of Royal life without any of the hard, boring bits.
“I’ve seen some disgraceful Royal antics in my time, but for pure arrogance, entitlement, greed, and wilful disrespect, nothing has quite matched this nonsense.”
He adds: “If I were the Queen, I would unceremoniously strip these deluded clowns of all their titles with immediate effect and dispatch them back into civilian life.”
The Duke and Duchess have kept their official titles, but aren’t allowed to use them now they don’t formally represent the Queen.
Mirror Online has reached out to representatives for the Sussexes for comment.
It’s far from the first time Piers has taken aim at them, after recently labelling them “shameless” over a recorded message about the US election.
The monarchy is politically neutral, and do not vote in elections.
Harry and Meghan made headlines with their video, making sure to steer clear of any named endorsement.
Still, their remarks about “rejecting hate speech” have been interpreted as referring to US President Donald Trump.
Fuming on Twitter, Piers wrote: ” Prince Harry poking his woke nose into the US election & effectively telling Americans to vote against President Trump is completely unacceptable behaviour for a member of the Royal Family.”
