Paul Sorvino has died aged 83.
The actor, best known for starring in Goodfellas, died this morning, his wife Dee Dee confirmed as she paid tribute to the “love of her life”.
Dee Dee is believed to have been by his side when he died.
She said: “Our hearts are broken, there will never be another Paul Sorvino, he was the love of my life, and one of the greatest performers to ever grace the screen and stage.”
Over his five decade-long Hollywood career he starred in almost 50 films, with his most hailed role being in Martin Scorcese’s 1990 masterpiece Goodfellas as mobster Paul Cicero.
Film buffs will also recognise him from Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 hit Romeo + Juliet as Fulgencio Capulet and Henry Kissinger in 1995’s Nixon.

His last TV role was in Godfather of Harlem, in which he played Frank Costello.
Paul ventured into the world of acting while attending The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and made his Broadway debut in 1964 musical Bajour.
It took another six years until he appeared in his very first film alongside George Segal and Ruth Gordon in Carl Reiner’s Where’s Poppa?
He went on to play a supporting role in 1971’s The Panic in Needle Park with Al Pacino and Kitty Winn.
Paul appeared in a number of 70s and 80s films that were largely well received, including A Touch of Glass and It Couldn’t Happen To A Nicer Guy.
In 1991, he joined popular TV show Law & Order as Sergeant Phil Cerreta, but left after 29 episodes after struggling with the exhausting filming schedule.
Paul leaves behind his three children – Mira, Michael and Amanda – and wife Dee Dee.
It comes just two months after his former Goodfellas co-star Ray Liotta died aged 67.
He died in the Dominican Republic, where he was shooting the film, Dangerous Waters.
