Glastonbury: Paul McCartney dedicates a song to John Lennon

Paul McCartney surprised Glastonbury festivalgoers by sharing a clip of Johnny Depp.

The legendary singer, who made history as the oldest ever headliner at Worthy Farm tonight at 80 years old, took to the Pyramid Stage.

But among his many surprises tonight – including flying in two music icons – included a video of Hollywood legend Depp, who is said to be a close pal of the Beatles legend.

It comes after the actor won his legal battle with ex Amber Heard following a sensational six week long trial in the US and was subsequently awarded millions of dollars in damages.

Depp has appeared in a number of Sir Paul’s music videos over the years and – during the music legend’s performance of his 2012 track My Valentine – he was seen in snippets of the original music video.

The black-and-white clip – which also features Natalie Portman – sees Depp play a guitar while also reciting the song’s lyrics in sign language.

Later on during his performance at the festival, he was joined by Bruce Springsteen and Dave Grohl, both of whom had flown in specially to perform.

Introducing Grohl, he said: “I’ve got a little surprise for you. My friend from the west coast of America, Dave Grohl.”

After Sir Paul revealed that Grohl had flown in especially for the set, the Foo Fighters hitmaker said: “Well I started on Wednesday, then the flight got cancelled, back to the airport Thursday and then the flight got cancelled, but I swear I would never miss being on stage with you right now.”

The duo went on to perform a medley of songs, including Band On The Run.

Once they finished performing together, Sir Paul said: “Love you Dave thank you man we all love ya. Ladies and gentlemen one more time – Dave Grohl.”

As if that weren’t enough, he went on to introduce another surprise guest – Bruce Springsteen.

Walking on stage, Springsteen told him: “Happy birthday Paul, here’s to 80 more years.”

Following their set together, Bruce thanked Sir Paul for inviting him to perform.

“You’re kidding, thank you for coming,” Sir Paul said. “These two guys flew in especially for this tonight.”

Springsteen added: “Couldn’t miss it man.”
