Carolina Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is day-to-day with a sprained right MCL, NFL Network reported Monday.
Bridgewater sustained the knee injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 46-23 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He avoided major structural damage and will be limited in practice this week, per multiple reports. He completed 18 of 24 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns and rushed three times for 16 yards and a score against the Bucs.
Bridgewater avoids another major knee injury
This is Bridgewater’s first season as a full-time starter since he suffered a major knee injury in the 2016 preseason as a member of the Minnesota Vikings.
Bridgewater, 28, has passed for 2,552 yards with 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions for the 3-7 Panthers this season.
The team is optimistic running back Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) will be back this week when the Panthers host the Detroit Lions. If Bridgewater can’t go, Carolina’s backups are P.J. Walker and Will Grier.
