Ozzy Osbourne went under the knife on Monday for “life-changing surgery”.

Wife Sharon has taken time off for her new TV show to be by his side and admits she doesn’t know if he will be well enough to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary in July.

Rocker Ozzy is having a neck and back operation to alter damage to his body, which left him unable to stand or walk for long periods.

Speaking last week, Sharon said : “Ozzy has a very major operation on Monday, and I have to be there.

“It’s really going to really determine the rest of his life.”

Ozzy admits he still cannot walk properly three years after a fall at his home severely damaged his neck and back.

The former Black Sabbath legend says he still has issues with his balance, which may impact his ability to finish his world tour.

His recovery is proving tougher than expected and he is hoping the new surgery will fix things.

Ozzy has struggled with his health in the past two years following a fall at his home, requiring several neck and back surgeries, and a Parkinson’s diagnosis. Before that he damaged his neck in a quad bike accident in 2003.

Speaking recently, Ozzy admitted: “I am hoping that this next surgery will get my balance back because I am falling all over the place.

“I feel 95. I am still in this recovery mode. I just got to get going again.

“Everyone says ‘Ozzy give it time’, but how much f**ing time have I got to give it?”

Surgeons had operated on the artist in LA to correct issues with his initial surgery which replaced rods in his back and neck.

After the winter surgery, he spoke of his battle to return: ”I have physical therapy every morning, three days a week. I am trying the best I can but my stamina has gone.

“I did an hour on the elliptical which nearly killed me. I cannot sit around with a thumb up my a*** anymore.”

In another interview, Ozzy told pal Billy Morrison he is slowing down, too impacted by his age and ailments: “Since this pandemic I have never been to bed so early.

“I wanna go back on the road. I have never been home this long in my life since 2018.”

He told Classic Rock mag in May: “I’m just waiting on some more surgery on my neck. I can’t walk properly these days. I have physical therapy every morning. I am somewhat better, but nowhere near as much as I want to be to go back on the road.”

In March the Mirror told how Ozzy was hoping to return to the UK this year after 20 years, but his injuries have put that plan on hold.

The rock legend says his planned move home back to Welders House in Buckinghamshire, prompted by high tax rates in Los Angeles.

Speaking to Sirius XM at the tie he said: “We are leaving LA. We are all a bit sad. But the tax is getting too much. I am sad because I really really like staying and living there.”

He doubled down on how keeping his income is important: “If they do the taxes better then I may come back. I do not know. Things may change.”

Ozzy has previously postponed his U.K. and European tour with Judas Priest for a second time – pushing it back to 2023.
