Noah Cyrus has apologised after using an offensive racially charged term while defending Harry Styles.

The 20-year-old singer, who is the younger sister of Miley, has spoken out after she hit back at prominent US conservative commentator Candace Owens.

Owens had criticised the former One Direction singer after he posed on the cover of Vogue in a Gucci ballgown.

At the time of the magazine being published, Owens, who is black, hit out at Harry in a tweet, writing: “Bring back manly men.”

Noah then shared a photo of Harry in the dress on her Instagram Story and said he wears it “better than any of u nappy a** heauxz”.

Nappy is sometimes used to describe afro-textured hair and is widely seen as offensive to black people.

Noah has now apologised for using the term, claiming that she did not know the history of the wording.

She wrote: “I am mortified that I used a term without knowing the context and history, but I know now and I am horrified and truly sorry.

“I will never use it again. Thank you for educating me.

“I in no way meant to offend anyone. I am so so sorry.”

Harry has already responded to the controversy that has blown up since he was pictured in the dress.

He posted a picture to Instagram, posing in a powder blue suit with a cinched and ruffled waist while holding a banana in his mouth.

The singer captioned the post: “Bring back manly men”.
