Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman has reunited with her 80-year-old mother Janelle after spending eight months apart from one another due to the coronanvirus pandemic
Hollywood star Nicole Kidman has shared an emotional reunion with her elderly mother after eight months apart.
The Aussie Oscar-winner, 53, was reunited with her 80-year-old mother Janelle following their separation due to lockdown restraints as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
However, now after months apart from each other, the pair shared a glorious hug in some moving and relatable photos on the star’s Instagram.
The photos show Nicole in a black jumper and long curly blonde hair hugging Janelle tight, who herself is wearing a red jumper.
In the second image, Nicole can be seen smiling over her mother’s shoulder.
Nicole captioned the images: “Feels so good to be able to hug my mum! It’s been 8 months.
“I missed her 80th birthday but I’m here now. Love you Mumma.”
The emotional images prompted some kind words from many of Nicole’s A-list friends in the replies to her post.
Nicole’s Big Little Lies co-star and close friend Reese Witherspoon wrote: “This brings me so much joy ! love to you both”.
Black Swan star Natalie Portman commented: “I’m so happy for you!”
Hollywood icon Michelle Pfeiffer posted three love-heart emojis in the replies section, as did Nicole’s fellow Aussie beauty Kylie Minogue.
The post also saw an outpouring of emotion from Nicole’s fans, some of whom shared similar experience of being apart from elderly loved ones.
One fan wrote: “It’s been 14 mths since I’ve hung my mum… and 20mths since I’ve hugged my mum in law!! Enjoy as it’s hard watching some aussies not taking things seriously!! #sendinglove “.
Another commented: “Wonderful to see with with your mother again. Many more happy days ahead.”
While a different follower replied to Nicole: “We take so much for granted sometimes. Nothing more priceless than a hug from from your mum or dad! Hope you enjoy your stay back home home here! Stay safe!”
Prior to her reunion with her mother, Nicole and her husband Keith Urban, 52, had completed a 14-day quarantine after arriving in Australia with their daughters, Sunday, 12, and Faith, nine.
The pair were permitted to quarantine on their $6.5million Southern Highlands estate and bypass the mandatory hotel quarantine upon arrival in Australia, according to the Daily Mail.
The family had returned to Nicole’s native country by private jet from their home in the United States.
The actress, who won her Oscar in 2003 for her performance as author Virginia Woolf in The Hours, is due to start filming her new mini-series Nine Perfect Strangers.
The show will be based on the novel of the same name by Lianne Moriarty who also wrote Big Little Lies, for which Nicole won various awards for her turn as the abused but resilient Celeste Wright.
The production is believed to be creating hundreds of jobs for the local economy when it begins shooting in Australia.
