Mike Tyson’s staggering connection to Tiger King’s Joe Exotic after owning 3 wild cats

Mike Tyson and Tiger King’s Joe Exotic have an unlikely connection after the boxer shared his belief his 3 Bengal tigers could have come from the jailed star

Mike Tyson may have an unlikely connection to Tiger King star Joe Exotic.

The boxing champ, 54, once owned three Bengal tigers – Kenya, Storm, and Boris – as pets roaming his Las Vegas mansion in the 1990s.

Joe rocketed to fame on Tiger King while in jail after he was found guilty of a murder for hire plot against his rival Carol Baskin.

Before then, the zoo operator cemented his status in the exotic world as a breeder of tigers in the US.

But Mike didn’t mind telling fans his former tigers could have come indirectly from the jailed TV star in recent months.

Having become a big fan of the Netflix series in lockdown, he admitted the thought Joe could have supplied him with the tigers crossed his mind.

He told MailOnline : “It could have been, maybe where I got my cats could have got their cats from Joe. But I don’t know.

“If you are in the exotic animal world you are aware of him.”

Mike had nothing but good words to say about jailed Exotic.

In fact, the sports star hailed the former zoo operator as a “born leader” with an “ingenious mind”.

He added: “People always say these people are scumbags. But these are amazing people with what they can do with their ingenious minds and control over other people’s minds. These guys are born leaders.”

However, Mike has voiced his own regrets about owning wild animals.

He admitted having three Bengal tigers as pets was “wrong”.

The American heavyweight star confessed the exotic creatures could kill you at any second and they can’t be domesticated.

He said on Instagram live: “There’s no way you can domesticate these cats 100 percent. No way that’s going to happen.

“They’ll kill you by accident, especially when you’re playing rough with them, you’re punching them back. They get hyped up, hit you back and you’re dead.

“I’m just happy I educated myself. I was doing the wrong s***. I shouldn’t have had them in my house, believing they were domesticated. I was wrong.”
