A man has been charged with raiding Tamara Ecclestone’s mansion and stealing £50m worth of jeweles.
The gated Kensington family home of F1 heiress Tamara was raided last December, with the mum reportedly left ‘shaken’.
Alessandro Maltese, 44, was detained in Italy under a European Arrest Warrant and flown to the UK yesterday.
He was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.
A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “‘A man has been charged in connection with a series of high-value burglaries in December 2019 following an investigation by the Met’s Flying Squad.
“Alessandro Maltese was returned to the UK via Heathrow on Thursday, 15 October following his arrest in Italy under a European Arrest Warrant earlier this month.
“He was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary between Saturday, 30 November 2019 and Sunday, 1 February and remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 16 October.”
Tamara had left the country with her husband Jay Rutland for a three week holiday when their £70m home was burgled on December 13.
Among the items alleged to have been taken were a pair of diamond earrings worth £300,000 and a Louis Vuitton handbag.
