Love Island’s Malin Andersson has told friends of her relief after her thug ex was jailed for beating her up.
Malin, 27, suffered broken bones and bruising after being assaulted by her then boyfriend Tom Kemp – because she wanted to stay out partying with friends.
Kemp was jailed this week for 10 months after admitting the attack.
Badly bruised Malin, who had to be treated for a broken hand, told a friend: “I couldn’t move for about two weeks.”
A pal of the relieved star said: “Her nightmare is over at last.”
The attack was the culmination of a campaign of mental and physical abuse by Kemp, 29, who Malin has called “manipulative” and “a narcissist”.
The relationship left the former air hostess battling PTSD.
The couple suffered tragedy in January last year when their baby daughter Consy, born seven weeks premature, died at just four weeks.
Malin, who lost both parents to cancer, was a close friend of tragic Sophie Gradon, who starred with her on Love Island in 2016.
Sophie took her own life two years later at the age of 32. Malin later said they had been treated “like performing monkeys” on the show – also hit by the 2019 suicide of former Islander Mike Thalassitis, 26.
The ITV reality contest has been described as “cursed” in the wake of those deaths and that of host Caroline Flack, 40, who killed herself in February.
Malin told friends she feared for her life as her relationship turned violent.
She told in an emotional online post of being “hit, pushed, kicked, scratched, spoken down to, controlled, manipulated, cheated on, and so much more”.
Kemp, of Milton Keynes, Bucks, countered with posts accusing her of lying.
