Following the tragic death of her son, Benjamin Keough, Lisa Marie Presley’s ex Michael Lockwood is worried about her sobriety. Presley and Lockwood split in 2016 after 10 years of marriage, and they are currently going through a divorce.
In a new court filing this week, Lockwood asked the court to take primary custody of the kids away from Presley because of his “new and significant concern” about a possible relapse.

“Lisa Marie Presley‘s son shot and killed himself in her home (Although she was not there at the time.) With all due sympathy and respect, this creates a new and unaddressed twofold problem: the safety of the children and the greater likelihood of [Presley] to relapse into drug and alcohol dependency,” states the filing obtained by The Blast.
Presley and Lockwood are set to go to court for their divorce and custody trial on August 3rd, and they share 11-year-old twins Harper and Finley.
The daughter of rock legend Elvis Presley has been candid in the past about her struggles with drug and alcohol abuse. Last year, she wrote the foreword for Harry Nelson’s book The United States of Opioids: A Prescription for Liberating a Nation in Pain.
Presley wrote that she was “grateful to be alive today” after falling prey to opioids. She explained that she was recovering from the birth of her daughters in 2008 when her doctor prescribed her opioids for pain. She says that all it took was a short-term prescription for her to get addicted.
She kept her struggle private for years, but it came to light after Presley filed for divorce from Lockwood. In addition to her twin daughters, Presley is also the mom of 31-year-old actress Riley Keough.

In the book, Presley specifically mentioned her four children as the reason for her to stay sober and give her the “purpose to heal.” She also mentioned “the countless parents who have lost children to opioids and other drugs.”
Benjamin Keough was 27-years-old when he took his own life, and a rep for Lisa Marie Presley told People magazine that she was “completely heartbroken, inconsolable, and beyond devastated.”
“She adored that boy,” said the rep. “He was the love of her life.”
