Lindsay Lohan has revealed that she’s “still good friends” with her Mean Girls co-stars a whole 16 years on.
Lindsay starred as Cady Heron in the hit 2004 chick flick, alongside Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert.
The film, which followed Cady as she went to high school for the first time after years of home schooling, is probably one of the most quotable movies ever released.
And despite it being a whopping 16 years since the hit film fired aired, the girls – as well as the film’s writer Tina Fey – have all remained good friends since.
Speaking on her mum Dina’s podcast dubbed The OG MAMA D, Lindsay addressed sequel rumours: “Oh, I mean, I know that they’re gonna do something, but I just don’t know exactly what yet and it would be an honour to be a part of it, obviously.
“It was really fun to do you know the catching up all together the reunion because it felt like – and they didn’t air part of this – but it felt like it was, we had all just seen each other the day before.”
And when it came to spilling on if the stars are still pals or not, Lindsay insisted that the girls are all still very close.
She explained: “It still feels like we know each other so well because we spent so much time with each other and we discussed how it’s been working with each other that it’s been, you know, so continuous over the years that it feels like we’re all still good friends, which was really nice, to catch up with everyone.
“So that was really fun.”
Opening up about the potential of a Mean Girls sequel earlier this year, Lindsay said she dreams of the day that she gets invited to star in it.
And it seems Lindsay is just as keen as fans are for another offering.
She told the Daily Mail : “Of course, I would say yes. To come back with a movie like that would be my dream, to be honest, because I haven’t done one in so long. That would be my ultimate.”
A Mean Girls 2 was made as a TV movie in 2011, which followed a different group of high school kids, but fans don’t really regard it as a sequel and are desperate to know what happened next to Cady and her nemesis Regina George.
Lindsay said that just this week she’s spoken to the original movie’s director Mark Waters, and that her co-star Rachel has said in the past she’d love to reunite for a sequel.
She added: “I think if I talked to Amanda [Seyfried] and I talked to Lacey [Chabert] and we kind of all could have a chat together, maybe we should do a zoom call.”
