Lily Allen has admitted she’s “really worried” about rapper Wiley following his string of anti-Semitic tweets.
The Grime star, 41, yesterday sparked outrage on the micro-blogging site after sharing hateful views about the Jewish community.
These included comparing Jewish people to racist organisation the Ku Klux Klan and spouted conspiracy theories about the Jewish community’s wealth and power.
Now Lily, 35, has waded in to urge people to maintain a sense of unity and friendship.
Taking to Instagram, the singer said: “So I just had a look at Wiley’s tweets. Oh dear.
“Oh, I’m really worried about everyone just going for each other on the Internet and it all being egged on by big data and big tech.
“It’s just really sad watching communities who should be like, coming together, helping each other out, turn against each other and I just feel like it’s going to get worse.
“I hope it doesn’t.”
A number of Wiley’s posts have been removed, and he’s been slapped with a seven day ban Twitter ban.
And as the controversy continues to blaze, he moved to Instagram to demand: “Crawl out from under your little rocks and defend your Jewish privilege.”
He’s also been dropped by his management.
John Woolf of A-List Management, who is Jewish himself, wrote: “Following Wiley’s anti-semitic tweets today we at @A-ListMGMT have cut all ties with him.
“There is no place in society for antisemitism.”
Meanwhile, Tower Hamlets police tweeted: “We have received a number of reports relating to alleged anti-Semitic tweets posted on social media.
“The Met takes all reports extremely seriously. The relevant material is being assessed.”
The Campaign Against Antisemitism has led calls for Wiley’s accounts to be shut down “to prevent further outpouring of anti-Jewish venom.”
Stephen Pollard, editor of The Jewish Chronicle, branded Wiley a “racist” and said he was “spouting Jew hate, like neo-Nazis and the rest of them.”
Countdown host Rachel Riley is one of those to criticise Wiley.
Rachel, who is Jewish, suggested in a post that Wiley could have ended his career by collaborating with Irish duo Jedward instead.
