Kym Marsh has weighed in after EastEnders actress Maisie Smith was snapped smoking a large hand-rolled cigarette behind the wheel of her car.
Corrie’s Kym, 44, expressed hope the 19 year old Walford star would “learn from” the episode.
Maisie, who plays Tiffany Butcher on Albert Square, was pictured smoking the cigarette as she drove around Two Tree Island, Essex.
It’s unclear what exactly she was smoking.
She puffed on the cigarette after she stopped her car to light it, and chatted to a pal in the passenger seat.
Now Kym has insisted it was “a really silly thing to do” – as she urged Maisie “to set an example.”
“When you’re in a soap, you have to remember that you have an influence on others,” she wrote in her OK! column, “especially young people and you have to set an example.
“You’re an ambassador for your show so you have to make sure you uphold it’s values.
“I can’t imagine she will get away with it lightly.”
Mirror Online has contacted Maisie’s reps for comment.
Kym, who played Michelle Connor on the Cobbles until recently, added that her own kids “aren’t interested” in drugs and that partner Scott Ratcliffe wouldn’t put up with it.
Maisie was snapped with the cigarette shortly after her brilliant response to online trolls who labelled her “ridiculously vain.”
“I get a lot of comments saying that I’m vain and that I love myself,” she wrote, “and you’re absolutely right, I do love myself, and it’s taken me a while to feel this way.
“So I’m sooo sorry if my happiness offends anyone because I’m just living my movie, I’m just living happily in my skin.
“I think that should be celebrated – not discouraged. Correct me if I’m wrong, guys.”
Maisie’s been very open about her body confidence issues in the past, and told that she’s struggled with anxiety amid the coronavirus lockdown.
She’s also suffered from body dysmorphia, telling The Sun : “It’s a problem that a lot of people have and it’s something that you can never truly recover from.
