Kym Marsh appears in dressing gown for first TV role since quitting Coronation Street
Ex-Coronation Street star Kym Marsh got into character while on the set of new BBC drama series The Syndicate, which depicts the gripping story of five staff members who win the lottery jackpot
She’s best known as Weatherfield’s Michelle Connor but Kym Marsh will be back on screens in a whole new role next year – playing feisty single mum Donna in BBC1’s The Syndicate.
The fourth run of the hit series from Kay Mellor details staff at a kennel who win the lottery jackpot.
Although they have been blessed with a lucky streak, it all goes wrong when they are conned out of their prize.
Marsh plays Donna, a struggling mum-of-two who often clashes with her daughter Keeley (played by Last Tango in Halifax’s Katherine Rose Morley) who is addicted to gambling.
In the story, Keeley and her pals win big on the lottery but end up having to go to Monaco to claim what is rightfully theirs.
Kay Mellor, who wrote the show, explained: “This series is a brand new story about a syndicate of low paid kennel workers who think they’ve won the lottery but have been robbed of their ticket.
“The chase to confront the culprit takes us to the wealthy French Riviera where the young syndicate find themselves well out of their depth.”
Also starring in the show is Line Of Duty’s Neil Morrissey, who plays a newsagent with dreams of being a high earner.
Strictly Come Dancing star Joe Sugg, whose sister is YouTube sensation Zoella, has also won a part on the show.
A source told The Sun : “Joe has always been passionate about making the leap from YouTube sensation to TV personality.
It comes after Kym recently swapped her time on the cobbles for true crime.
The singer-turned-actress fronted Murder At My Door With Kym Marsh – a chilling series which explores cases of innocent people murdered in their own homes by killers they thought they could trust.
The explosive documentary series is expected to hit telly screens in autumn this year, on channel Crime + Investigation.
