Katy Perry hits out at the ‘popular misconceptions of being a full-time mum’
Katy Perry is returning to work after the birth of her daughter Daisy last month and had a few things to say on social media about how maternity leave is perceived
Katy Perry has shared her thoughts on the ‘misconceptions’ that surround being a full-time mum.
The 35-year-old singer welcomed her daughter Daisy, with fiance Orlando Bloom, last month and she took to Twitter on Thursday to set the record straight on a number of issues.
Katy is returning to work and she said there were a few things that needed to be set straight about motherhood and working a job.
She did so in a series of tweets, which began with her writing: “Popular misconception: being a mom isn’t a full time job.”
Katy then added three more tweets to the list as she spelled out what she things is perceived wrongly about being a mother.
She continued: “part 2: when a mom finally goes back to work (whatever profession they do) it’s not like they been coming from months of ‘time off…’ she’s coming from a full time job… of being a mom, lol.”
Next she urged her fans to give some love to their own mothers for what they have done to help raise them.
Katy’s next tweet was: “Part 3: call your mom and tell her you love and appreciate her and advocate for paid family leave!”
She concluded the series of tweets by writing: “Part 4. I love my job.”
Katy and Orlando are currently living in the upscale Montecito neighborhood, where they are adjusting to their new life as parents to a newborn.
The couple announced the birth of their daughter on August 27 in a statement to UNICEF, in which they said: “We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter.”
They also posted a black and white photo of them holding the tiny hand of their newborn daughter.
Katy was seen paying homage to he new baby girl by having a white daisy painted on her nail as she held her baby’s hand.
