Katy Perry has thrown her support behind Ellen DeGeneres after she was slammed by accusations from staff that she has enabled a “toxic culture” behind the scenes.
The accusations have forced WarnerMedia to launch an investigation at The Ellen Show, as rumours continue to swirl about Ellen, 62, and whether or not she will be replaced on the show.
As many celebs and former employees speak out on their poor experiences with the show, Katy – who has appeared on the show numerous times – is standing up for Ellen.
Taking to Twitter, heavily-pregnant Katy took a moment to let fans know her stance on the situation, admitting that she “only ever had positive takeaways” from her time on the show.
Katy – who is expecting her first child with fiancé Orlando Bloom – penned: “I know I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience besides my own but I want to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen & on the @theellenshow.
“I think we all have witnessed the light & continual fight for equality that she has brought to the world through her platform for decades.”
She added: “Sending you love & a hug, friend @TheEllenShow.”
The countless allegations have led to Ellen issuing an apology to all staff for how they have been treated with a promise for a better way forward.
Earlier this week, Ellen’s wife Portia de Rossi showed public support for her wife on Instagram.
The couple have been married since August 2008, announcing their coupling immediately after California’s Supreme Court lifted the ban on same-sex marriage.
Portia captioned her post: “To all our fans….we see you. Thank you for your support.”
She added a number of hashtags that lent some more meaning to her thoughts – #stopbotattacks, #IStandWithEllenDeGeneres, #IStandByEllen, #IstandByEllenDeGeneres and #bekindtooneanother.
The final phrase is what Ellen uses to finish her show each day, while the reference of “bot attacks” have left many scratching their heads as to what she is allegeing.
