Katie Price’s son Harvey’s heartache over not seeing his dad like siblings do
EXCLUSIVE: Harvey doesn’t understand why his siblings spend time with their dads when he doesn’t, but thankfully he’s got “best friend” Carl Woods to help him through
Katie Price has revealed her eldest son Harvey’s heartache and confusion over his siblings’ relationships with their fathers.
Harvey, 18, has never had a relationship with his biological father Dwight Yorke, but can’t understand why his brothers and sisters do.
Junior, 15, and Princess, 13, regularly see their dad Peter Andre, while Jett, seven, and Bunny, six, spent lots of time with their dad Kieran Hayler.
Thankfully for Harvey, he has a new best friend – Katie’s boyfriend Carl Woods.
The 31-year-old has already built a strong bond with Katie’s five kids, and shared a sweet tale about a moment he recently shared with Harvey.
During an exclusive chat with Mirror Online, he said: “We got dinner and Kate was just drying her hair so I was sat at the table with Harvey, he said ‘Harvey, Carl best friends?’ I said, ‘Of course we are’.
“Kate came in a minute later and he said to her, ‘Mum, Harvey, Carl best friends’.”
Katie gushed: “He’s so cute. The thing is, Harvey’s been let down like I have, I mean majorly let down and you don’t do it to kids.
“I’m an adult, it’s not nice to let people down, but Harvey has seriously been let down by my serious relationships I’ve had.
“He doesn’t understand why the kids go to see their dads and he doesn’t. He doesn’t understand.”
Katie explained that as Harvey is getting older, he’s looking for that laddish banter that others his age join in on.
She said: “He’s a teenager, he wants a father, when I say father, Carl’s not here to be anyone’s father, they’ve got their own dads, but Harvey likes male banter, he doesn’t just want mum going, ‘Do you want cuddles?’
“He wants a bit of winding up. At the minute, I play the mum and dad role with him. When I do YouTube, he knows when men walk in and he’ll go ‘Alright, d**khead?’ and stuff like that, because he just wants that banter with the guys.
“He’s 18, he’s not a kid, he loves the male banter, he’s just funny.”
Katie, who has publicly encouraged Dwight to reach out to his son, is now looking for a college for Harvey to attend as well as continuing to try and help him lose weight.
He has a number of health conditions, including partial blindness, autism and Prader-Willi syndrome, which means he never feels full.
Katie told us: “I’m looking for colleges for him at the minute now because he’s turning 19 , he’s regarded as an adult now.
“So I’m trying to find a college for him to go to when he’s 19. Other than that, he’s 28 and a half stone, he got weighed three days ago, he’s very obese, it’s so hard, no one understands trying to get his weight down, I’m trying to find a treadmill that can take his weight.”
After sparking up a romance with Katie – one they say will last forever – Carl has also grown close to her other kids.
“It’s been easy really, I’ve just gelled with all of them,” he said.
Katie says Carl is so close to Junior that they even team up to tease her.
She said: “Him and Junior also pick on me! What I love about Junior, he’s such a lovely, polite guy, but he’s never been interested in meeting anyone unless it’s serious, he didn’t even want to meet Carl.
“But now he tries to get rid of me so he can have time with Carl on his own.”
Carl said him and Junior are such good pals that the teenager calls him up when he needs a favour, rather than his mum.
And he said even Katie’s youngest kids Jett and Bunny listen to him more than they do Katie.
