Kate Garraway updates fans after urgent plea to find Derek’s lost medical supplies
Kate Garraway concerned fans on Saturday night when she put out an urgent appeal for the return of her husband Derek’s medical supplies after she left the kit in a taxi
Kate Garraway has thanked fans for getting out the message that she had left her husband Derek’s vital medical kit in a taxi – before the supplies were finally recovered by a ‘lovely driver.’
Last night, the Good Morning Britain presenter sparked concerned when she took to Twitter with a plea for help after the mishap.
Kate revealed she’d brought Derek home from hospital for the weekend in a mobility taxi but had accidentally left his supplies in the cab when they left.
She tweeted out: “Help!! Have just brought Derek home in a mobility black cab from hospital for a weekend visit -& have left a case with all his meds and kit in the front! The driver recognised me but may not know it’s there.
“Please look and get in touch – need urgently,” she told her 500,000 followers.

Kate’s army of helpful fans began to retweet the post to help word spread and share useful advice to help the desperate TV star be reunited with the lost kit.
Thankfully, Kate returned to Twitter this morning to reveal there had been a happy end to the ordeal.
“It’s been returned! Thanks to all who reached out – the message got to driver lovely Robert who has returned it – phew and thanks to all. #happysundayeveryone,” she posted.

Kate’s husband Derek has endured a long and gruelling health battle since he was struck down with Covid in March 2020.
The dad-of-two and former political lobbyist became the UK’s longest suffering patient with the virus, after spending six months in a coma.
He was finally able to return to the family home in April 2021, where he continues to receive round the clock care.

Kate has been honest with fans about Derek’s journey, releasing a book and two documentaries on his road to recovery.
The mum was told six times by doctors her husband would not survive after his body was left ravaged by the disease.
While Derek is far from making a full recovery, Kate said she and children children Darcy 17, and William, 12, are ‘learning’ how to be around their dad.
Speaking to Good Housekeeping, Kate said: “When you nearly lose someone, it certainly brings everything into sharp focus.
“In many ways, we’re still learning how we are as man and wife, as so much has changed.

“It’s the same for the children – they’re having to relearn the experience of being with their dad. And, of course, the biggest learning is for poor Derek.’
Kate previously admitted that if left unaided for over three days, bed-stricken Derek could die.
Despite the bleak outlook, Kate – who balances motherhood with caring for Derek and her media roles – says she will never give up on the hope of him getting better.
