Kate Garraway was seen at the wheel of her car on Wednesday just days after she had a near-miss car crash

Kate Garraway has been spotted driving for the first time since she almost got into a car crash on the motorway.

The Good Morning Britain presenter was seen at the wheel of her car on Wednesday morning as she headed out to her local shop.

It comes after Kate revealed her terrifying ordeal when her tire blew on the motorway when she was driving her children, with the police coming to their rescue.

The near-miss crash was the first time she had driven Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11, since their dad Derek Draper was hospitalised with coronavirus back in March.

But Kate seemed to have her confidence back as she took her Volvo for a spin this week.

She looked chic in a blue and beige snake print maxi dress, which she teamed with a pair of pink sandals.

Kate’s flattering frock was cinched in at the waist and featured a low-cut neckline.

The mum-of-two sported minimal makeup and she wore her blonde locks loose around her shoulders.

She was all smiles as she left her house and got in the driving seat.

Kat then returned with a bunch of bananas in her hand.

It seems she has managed to find the courage to get back behind the wheel after her ordeal last weekend.

Kate said on Instagram : “Thanks to our amazing saviours Liz & Mark from @kentpoliceuk who rescued me after a full tyre blow out on the motorway!!!

“Never had one before – utterly terrifying.”

Kate said she was forced to call the police when AA were delayed getting to her.

She continued: “Managed to keep control of car but couldn’t get off motorway as no hard shoulder & when the AA said they couldn’t come for an hour, then rang after half an hour to say might still be an hour had no choice but to call the police.

“They were so brilliant and got us to safety and we are now on way home in taxi, shaken but safe, tow truck on way to car.”

Kate and the kids managed to get out unharmed.

It came amid Kate’s husband Derek’s illness.

He is currently in intensive care after he was admitted into four months ago with coronavirus.

Though he is now free from the deadly bug, it has wreaked havoc on his body – including giving him diabetes and leaving him with holes in his heart and lungs.
