Kate Garraway has delighted her fans by smiling broadly in a selfie with her Good Morning Britain co-presenter, Adil Ray.
The 53-year-old TV personality has had a tough few months since her husband Derek Draper was hospitalised in intensive care with Covid-19.
Far from being in the doldrums, Kate has put on a brave face as she looks to find a path forward through her family’s crisis.
The smile was genuine in the affectionate photo with Adil as they celebrated their first day together presenting ITV’s breakfast show.
Citizen Khan star Adil had said previously that he had wanted to give Kate a big hug after all that she had been through recently but social distancing had prevented that from happening.
It would seem that they managed to find a way around that though as he held Kate tight around the shoulder for the heart warming snap.
The 46-year-old presenter captioned his Instagram post: “Back on your telly with this beautiful human. Join @kategarraway & I tomorrow [Tuesday] morning from 6 @gmb not with @thatdanstevens pulling faces in the background!”
Fans were quick to leave comments about the photo with one describing Kate’s smile as “beautiful.”
Another declared: “What a remarkable woman.”
A third commented: “Great pic….our family all love Kate ❤️❤️❤️❤️”
Kate has been giving regular updates about Derek’s condition to GMB viewers as he battled the effects of Covid-19.
She said that they feel “lucky” that he is still with us but he is a long way from recovery at the moment.
Speaking on Monday morning, Kate Kate confessed she didn’t want to keep updating fans, as to not upset those also dealing with having someone they love battling Covid-19.
She also “felt bad” for having laughs on the show, because she remembered her poorly husband was still in hospital.
She explained: “I feel conscious of not… I know everyone has been so lovely and concerned for him, and it’s difficult isn’t it.
“There’s so many people out there with people who are sick, that you don’t want to talk about it on Good Morning Britain all of the time.
“It’s then not cheering up everybody that’s trying to cope with Covid.
“But then on the other hand last week when were were having fun and games, you feel almost bad cos you think, ‘I’m laughing and he’s still there in a minimally conscious state,’ it’s a difficult balance.”
