John Barrowman impressed Lorraine Kelly with his Scottish accent as he serenaded her live on TV today.
The former Doctor Who star, 53, sang happy birthday to the presenter during her show on Monday morning to mark her special day, and he floored her with his spot-on brogue.
The Scottish-American actor was born in Glasgow before moving to the US with his family in 1975, so he has picked up a strong American accent.
John’s Scottish accent is rarely heard, so it was a huge surprise for Lorraine, 61, when he began singing to her during the video call interview.
Singing live from his home in Palm Springs, California, he receipted: “Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Lorraine, you gorgeous piece of woman!”
John, who came on the show to talk about his pal Ruthie Henshall being evicted from I’m A Celebrity, had the telly host in stitches as she laughed at his incredible accent.
Lorraine burst into giggles on the daytime show as she was left overwhelmed by his sweet birthday message.
Many fans couldn’t get over the beautiful performance as they commented on the video clip, which was shared on the official Lorraine Twitter page.
“I love how John can go between American accent and Scottish,” one complimented.
Another shared: “Love this by John happy birthday Lorraine have a great day.”
“Happy Birthday Lorraine. Great interview with John, love how he goes back to his Scottish accent.”
However other fans weren’t convinced by the actor’s accent and said it was “fake”.
Some said they had heard John talking in a Scottish accent during his interview with Lorraine and were left in hysterics.
One laughed: “John Barrowman talking in a fake Scottish accent and #lorraine not noticing.”
Another wrote: “Why is he putting on a Scottish accent when most of the time he puts on an American one. #lorraine.”
“Dying at him putting on a Scottish accent #lorraine,” a third shared.
