Jesy Nelson sheds tear as she spends time at recording studio
Jesy Nelson has parted ways with record label Polydor after just over a year as part of its roster of talent, with her now looking to “move in a new direction” with her music career.
The singer, 31, had signed with Polydor in May last year and later released her debut single Boyz through the record label – though there’s yet to be any subsequent releases.
It’s now been confirmed that Jesy has decided to leave Polydor, with the two parties said to have been “going in different directions” as she worked on her debut album.
The musician – who was a member of Little Mix from 2011 to 2020 – is no longer listed on Polydor’s website as one of its artists, who currently include ABBA and Madonna.

Confirming the news, a spokesperson for Jesy told the Mirror: “[She] feels now is the right for her to move in a new direction. As a result, she has decided to part company with Polydor.”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Polydor told us: “Polydor have amicably parted ways with Jesy. We have enjoyed working with her and everyone at the label wishes her nothing but the best for the future.”
A source within the industry said Jesy and the UK-based record label have been on good terms, but commented that they had been “going in different directions” recently.
The source told us: “Jesy decided it was the right time for her to make a clean break. She and the label have been going in different directions in recent months.”

They further commented about her decision: “Whilst there hasn’t been a fall-out, Jesy just felt it was better to start afresh now – whilst everyone was still friends.”
The source added she has “enjoyed her time with Polydor” – which is part of the Universal Music Group – but that she wants to pursue her own creative ideas for her career.
“Rather than go on together whilst having such differing musical ideas for the future, she now wants to be able to develop fully her own ideas as an individual artist,” they said.
