Jesy Nelson and Chris Hughes split during the early days of lockdown sent shockwaves through the showbiz world.
But before they went their separate ways, the pair were chatting openly about the prospect of having kids.
A clip for Chris’ new BBC documentary – filmed before their split – shows the two speaking after he was told by a doctor that the quality of his sperm has improved after fears he may suffer from fertility issues.
Me, My Brother and Our Balls sees Chris explore the subject of male fertility with brother Ben.
After his appointment with the doctor, Chris picked up the phone to Jesy.
“I’ve just got to tell her the good news,” he enthused, “It’s been a worry for us both.”
Speaking to Jesy, Chris told her: “Oh Jessica, I have a lot of sperm and they’re very, very active. I’m really happy.”
Jesy replied: “Yay! So we can have lots of babies?”
“I think we can probably have three or four,” Chris beamed.
Chris and Jesy announced they were splitting back in April after coronavirus forced them apart.
Jesy’s since moved on with Our Girl actor Sean Sagar, while Chris was rumoured to have struck up a romance with Instagram model Mary Bedford.
Chris, though, is still happy that Jesy is part of his documentary.
He told MailOnline : “The beauty of Jesy being in the documentary is that it showcases a conversation that couples have, it’s very relatable.
“Obviously we supported each other when we were together. I still support her now with things, whether I do that publicly or not, I still do support her anyway.”
Ben underwent a procedure to have a testicle removed following a diagnosis of testicular cancer.
Meanwhile, Jesy’s been supported by her bandmates, celeb pals and fans since suffering a panic attack before Little Mix’s Radio 1 Live Lounge performance.
She’s been swamped with messages of support, chief among them Radio 1, who wrote: “You absolutely smashed it. We love having you in Live Lounge!”
DJ Clara Amfo weighed in: “What I saw today was TRUE sisterhood, salute to you Jesy for your transparency with your fans and to your girls. You’re ALWAYS welcome! xx”
Jesy heaped praise on Perrie Edwards after she stepped in to perform her solos during their performance.
Clara later added: “What I saw yesterday was a great example of real sisterhood and them just showing why they’re such a great band.”
