Jason Manford says living next door to Sir Alex Ferguson is ‘terrifying’
Comedian Jason Manford has revealed he finds it ‘terrifying’ being Sir Alex Ferguson’s neighbour and said he is ‘scared’ of the former Manchester United boss
Jason Manford says he avoids his neighbour Sir Alex Ferguson because he is “absolutely terrifying”.
The Manchester City fan and comedian admits he is scared of the former Manchester United boss.
Manford, 39, said: “Sir Alex Ferguson lives around the corner and I see him every so often. I’ve done a few charity gigs for him.
“He’s absolutely terrifying. Even when he’s walking his dog he’s terrifying.”
Manford, of Wilmslow, Cheshire, said he planned to snub Sir Alex as a joke at a 2010 charity football match but lost his bottle.
Speaking on the podcast Quickly Kevin, Will He Score?, he said: “So I’m in the lineup, and I’ve got, I can’t remember… Olly Murs and the fella from Merlin.
“Alex Ferguson’s walking along the line, so I say to these guys, ‘when Sir Alex comes, I’m gonna do that handshake that Wayne Bridge did,’ because it was topical as well, as a Comic Relief thing, I thought, ‘everyone will get it, and it’ll be a laugh’.
“And they’re egging me on, and he comes along and he’s shaking hands, saying, ‘alright son, it’s a good thing you’re doing for charity,’ and he’s coming along, meeting everybody.
“Then he comes to me, and I’m about to do it – and I just absolutely s*** myself and went, ‘hi Sir Alex, nice to meet you.’
“I just absolutely s*** myself. I just couldn’t do it, he’s genuinely terrifying.”
